If it's Thursday, it must be 1994! The grip of alt.rock and hip-hop - mostly alt.rock - on the Pazz and Jop poll is close to total, and Anglophiles aren't carrying much weight. This does mean that we've got a lot of tracks to rate that never came near a Now album, though!

I've never heard Silverfish but I LOVE Ruby which Lesley Rankine was in after Silverfish!

I have a Silverfish tape of their first 2 EPs which is raw but pretty good IIRC. Tons of attitood.

Were they more alt-rock? Ruby were totally trip-hop, I found what they/she did very much a counterpart to what Tricky was doing at the time.
