Let's talk about how much we love 'Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover'!

(She actually sings "I'll rock you..." but I have always assumed there was a proper sweary version somewhere even though I have no evidence of this.)

I love the lush synth action on it.

i had big crush on SBH first time i saw her on TOTP but soon realised this may have been misplaced.

incrdibly dull fact: this song was used as incidental music in an episode of Baywatch - possibly the first 'proper' song to feature in the show.

That's incredibly sonically apt! Those slightly cheesy but rather gorgeous synths = slow-motion running scenes!

"Tonight I'm everything... I'll even be your mother" is one of my favourite lyrics ever.

There's a really good, and surprisingly faithful, cover of it by Eels that kinda turns up the angst a bit.

No. Just, no. I do not want to hear that.

I thing SBH handles the angst perfectly anyway - it's there, of course it is, but the song itself is so smooth in terms of production and melody that it seems kind of sublimated. Just like her feelings do you SEE.
