A surprise victory for White Town saw Your Woman achieve 37 ticks last week, making it your favourite No.1 of 1997, whilst Tori, Hanson and the Spice Lasses could only muster 32 each. Elton and his windy candle brought up the rear with a solitary tick. This week we have Dutch painters, Mary Whitehouse-offending metaphors and glam-rock in full swing - it's 1972!

I myself am perfectly ambivolent towards the early seventies. They're better than the sixties but not as good as the eighties. Innit.
