After much deliberation the shortlist for The Lex 20p Indie Prize has been announced:

The Feeling
The Guillemots
Kasabian
The Kooks
Lily Allen
The Pipettes
Test Icicles
The Young Knives

All of these acts* have been nominated BY POPTIMISTS for their vital contributions to INDIE over the last 12 months. Let the debate commence!

but then YYYs aren't really indie anyway so I guess it's good that they haven't been SULLIED

I nominated the YYYs too, though after nominations had closed, I now see. I'm not sure in what way they aren't indie. I only like one of the nominated acts, and strongly dislike several.

they are art-rock! except the new album which is country. they are really really awesome.

It will be a sad day for music awards when sponsors get a say in awarding the prizes!
