Poptimists. We need to talk.

You really let me down yesterday.

Ciara’s ‘Goodies’ is a poptimist touchstone, and Miss Ciara Princess Harris a poptimist heroine on a par with Kelis, Britney, Xtina, Aaliyah, Rachel and Kylie. Yet you did not give her the respect she deserved as the first lady of crunk’n’b. To add insult to injury, she appears to have been beaten by both past-it Chemical Brothers and dreadful indie Killers.

I’m disappointed in you.

Explain yourselves please.

'Milkshake' hit in January too!

I still feel that even if it wasn't as ubiquitous as a 'Milkshake' it certainly had coverage to rival, say, 'I Believe In You' - and certainly it didn't have so little coverage that it would pass anyone by (which I could believe of '1 2 Step').

But 'Milkshake' stayed high in the chart during January and February, didn't it? To me, Milkshake feels like an Event Single in a way that Goodies didn't - I didn't see any press highlighting Goodies as the harbinger of a new genre, maybe I just wasn't paying attention. It was one of the most unassuming number ones!

I Believe In You had the 'written by jake shears' tag appended and also was a Kylie single - I think different rules apply to Kylie singles cos she's a National Treasure and all, it doesn't really matter how much they sell.
