It's reasonably rare that someone I want to see gives a show in Moscow. Bryan Ferry is not high on my list, by any means, but I am compensating for not getting to go see Roisin Murphy, who I really *really* wanted to see (and who gave a great performance here two years ago - her first live solo show).

But:

The venue - a 3500 capacity club. General admission tickets, let's say 3000: 1,500 rubles (J30, $60). Seats - about 180: 9,000 rubles (J180, $360). VIP 1 tickets, about 20: 15,000 rubles (J300, $600). VIP 2 tickets (8, i think): 50,000 rubles (J1,000, $2,000)

This means Bryan is grossing roughly J136,400 ($272,800). (And he's doing two shows!)

No, under no circumstances am I going to pay for Dylanesque.

This Saturday it is POPTIMISM at the Cross Kings, in Kings Cross - details of how to get there at http://freakytrigger.co.uk/poptimism/

It will be the perfect place to go and dance to pop after you've seen some fireworks, or INSTEAD of the fireworks, since the fireworks aren't meant to be until Monday anyway, and also there will be MUSICAL FIREWORKS, yeah, that's right.

Guest DJs are Meg and Chris - both veterans of the tricky Poptimism guest slot, the regulars expect to be upstaged, but not without a struggle since all the pop in the world seems to be coming out at the moment.

Also the return of another grand tradition - the free Poptimism CD. I haven't made it yet but it will be full of autumnal riches. First come first served.

WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? (Ans: 8pm Saturday).
