For the second Now running, Girls Aloud find themselves in second place, this time by one vote to Justin Timberlake's "Cry Me A River". They get a third shot in the Now 56 poll, covering the end of 2003 - and Justin's back too, though it may well be that neither of them wins it.

Good times, bad times? You decide.

Also being criminally overlooked

Liberty X's 'Jumpin' is a really superb example of the fizz-crash-bang hypercuberpop which was so in vogue this year, it's all broken machine beats and hyped-up super-banging robovox and is superb.

There are several songs that I can't imagine not ticking, you would have to be inhuman to think 'Crazy In Love' or 'LA Ex' or 'Superstar' or 'Finest Dreams' don't qualify as any good at all, yet they are not getting 100% which I find CURIOUS.

Again you may be seeing racism where simple ignorance lies - for example, I've never knowingly heard Finest Dreams.

I'm surprised that you (and others) haven't heard some of these - most of the ones I'm pointing out were pretty massive, and this was at a time when most Poptimists were following the charts.

Anyway I'm saving the racism talk for the Lumidee travesty, not RX.

Finest Dreams is the worst record Kelis has ever done: it is hollow, and dull, and tuneless, and tedious.

I'm surprised you think so! She sounds as if she's in a trance, it's totally wave-yr-hands-in-the-air joy, and the synth strings are just bliss for me.

if by 'in a trance' you means SLEEPWALKING and by 'wave your hands in the air' you mean 'bat ineffectually at an annoying gnat' and bliss you mean 'boredom'. It actively makes me angry, how nothing it is.

haha. You have almost convinced me! Did you like any of the other songs on the RX album?

I've never heard the RX album in full! Beyond the obvious singles, I have heard and adore 'you better love me x4 tonight', which I like a lot better than any of Tiga's stuff on his own, I think it just wins out over the Digitalism mix of 'a place called home', even.

It really pissed me off, when I'd hear it, or catch it on music telly, and be stuck going "i love RX, I love Kelis, why is this so shockingly meh?"
