For the second Now running, Girls Aloud find themselves in second place, this time by one vote to Justin Timberlake's "Cry Me A River". They get a third shot in the Now 56 poll, covering the end of 2003 - and Justin's back too, though it may well be that neither of them wins it.

Good times, bad times? You decide.

I have heard the sampler of her new album. It's not very good.

'Stuck', however, is one of the finest pop songs EVAH and if it weren't for Lumi would have been a runaway winner for me. My favourite bit is right at the end, the Max Martin-style backing vox coming in just once as the song finally admits to itself that it isn't an Avril-esque rocker after all, it is pop through and through: "don't - know - what - to - DO! I'm stuck on you!"

I (l) Stacie O, "Stuck" is amazing for how it combines that kinda Max Martin laboratory pop with a kind of... I mean, you know more about R&B than me but it sounds kinda She'kspere (or whatever he was called), a real retro late 90s feel.

Also, the lead single from her new album reminds me of that Shaznay single that went wood.

The mp3 you gave me of the lead single cuts out after 30 secs and it's not on the sampler. HOWEVER the full album arrived over the weekend, but I haven't had a chance to listen yet.

'Stuck' was remarkable in that it had the Max Martin element, it had the cod-r&b element (really quite generic, which I love - but also completely at odds with where r&b itself was at this summer), but Stacie sang it like she was Avril and all punk - so really it was where all the strands of 00s pop MET!

I actually think "(There's Gotta Be) More To Life" is even better, but that's a debate for another Now poll...

No, no it isn't, that was really disappointing after 'Stuck' - really clunky tune, also "oh dear you are a Xtian after all" lyrics. BOO to moralising popstars (unless they're Beyoncébot on 'Survivor')

How the hell can you reconcile your Beyonce love with a hatred of moralising in pop! "(There's Gotta Be) More To Life" is the best Xtian-goes-pop single since "Kiss Me". There, I said it.

Oh it doesn't have half the melodic strength of 'Kiss Me'! It's a really wimpy tune which doesn't have that one extra chord change which would make it special (cf 'Crazy Chick').

I like Beyoncé moralising because she takes it to such a ridiculous extreme, and because her persona is a massive bitch rather than anything good and sweet like Orrico - DC moralising is great in exactly the same way that J-Lo singing "I'm down to earth like this" is great.

i kinda wish Britney had done 'Stuck' - it seems so much 'smarter' than many if not all of her songs.

Yes! I remember she wrote an awesome column about how beautiful and emotionally on-point the video was.
