What fun we had with Now 50, which Kylie won at a canter, though with decent shouts from Britney and Bouncy. Kylie takes her place next to S Club in the pop and poll hall of fame. Sadly I have to report that Now 51 is less obviously glittering, though obviously your mileage may wobble. Some definite highlights though as we slide gently into 2002. And big hellos to Daniel Bedroomeyes, Christina Milian and...Nickelback!

Puretone. Great "wor-ee-or-ee-or" noises, great daft verse lyrics, great build up - to RUB UNSATISFYING CHORUS.

Although this song is better than eg Robbie & Nicole I cannot give it a tick.

Nope, sorry. It has all the right ingredients for CAKE but does not add up to tasty CAKE instead becoming a BISCUIT - ok but not as good as CAKE.

Which helps to explain why that record is to me the perfect example of a 'shrinker' (ie opposite of a grower). First time I heard I thought wow! my new favoruite record! The appeal diminished on every subsequent listen hence no ticky now.

It gets points for "influence" ie it virtually invented the Girls Aloud sound for the first album.
