What fun we had with Now 50, which Kylie won at a canter, though with decent shouts from Britney and Bouncy. Kylie takes her place next to S Club in the pop and poll hall of fame. Sadly I have to report that Now 51 is less obviously glittering, though obviously your mileage may wobble. Some definite highlights though as we slide gently into 2002. And big hellos to Daniel Bedroomeyes, Christina Milian and...Nickelback!

I don't need nobody telling me
just what, what, what I'm gonna
Do about my destiny
I say no-no-nobody's telling me
Just what I wanna do
I'm so fed up with people
Telling me to be -----
Someone else but MAAAEEEEEEEYYYYYY

Gawd this is a poor one. I wonder if I will be the only one to tick THE PHONICS?! I think on hindsight and without having to listen to it the whole way, it's OK! I think it soundtracked something I liked! Wossat all abaat?

For Ja Rule featuring Ashanti -- Always on Time. This is a great track!! Overall this Now isn't terrible, I'd say: several ace tracks, and a fair few not too bad (e.g Bedingfield's best single; a decent Blue song). Some real horrors and a fair few 'eh?'s as well.

It is a v odd now - 80% is either HORRIFYINGLY BAD or completely unmemorable - but the remaining 20% is AMAZING so there are loads of ace songs to choose from.

grime, hang yr head etc

It really is, those swooping synth strings and her VOICE - and it seemed so fitting as a posthumous No 1, too, not in a morbid way at all but a fitting way to remember her.

I love the weird production touch at the end when the strings somehow get disjointed ever so slightly from the beat.

isn't it 'Fly By II'? but then what is 'Fly By I'

presumably II is just the single mix of the album version?

I hated a lot of Murder Inc. stuff but agree with byebyepride. 'ALways On Time' is probably the best record to come out of that stable. Ashanti's 'Happy' would be second.

'Ignition' is one of the most annoying R Kelly singles ever, so weak and insipid. 'Snake', the follow-up single, was a much better banger!

'I Believe I Can Fly' is GLORIOUS and LIFE-AFFIRMING.

it's NOT EVEN VAGUELY in the bonnie tyler style, it is in the "poor man's pearl jam, trying to be ver jovi" style.

i dislike 'Lazy' in a way - i think the lyrics are really trite and annoying.
