What fun we had with Now 50, which Kylie won at a canter, though with decent shouts from Britney and Bouncy. Kylie takes her place next to S Club in the pop and poll hall of fame. Sadly I have to report that Now 51 is less obviously glittering, though obviously your mileage may wobble. Some definite highlights though as we slide gently into 2002. And big hellos to Daniel Bedroomeyes, Christina Milian and...Nickelback!

Nickleback to me means this is actually really The Present.

And yes yes, it's an appaling caterwauling, and the Stereophonics remain as kickable as ever, but dear god, people, have we forgotten Hero? The video, where the song is inset with snatches off September 11th air traffic control, Bush's speeches, and so on?

I remember the Enrique songs by the videos, and (shame shame shame) the only one that underwhelmed me was the duet he did with Alsou, breaking the hearts of everyone in Russia that she'd finally breakout in the West.

But my favorite of his comes a bit later.

I suspect that if I went back and relistened to 'Hero' I would have to tick it.

His liaison with Anna K means that I cannot hate him ever.
