A very mixed bag, Now 49 - for every Destiny's Child making a (somewhat delayed) bow in a Now poll, there's a Dido. For every Mis-Teeq, a Marti Pellow. A number of strong candidates should make for an intriguing poll.

The last Now poll was the closest for AGES, with Gorillaz finally beating Shaggy and Nelly F by one vote - "Clint Eastwood" is the lowest-rated winner ever, which makes up slightly for it being the first one I don't actually like.

Is this really the first appearance of Eve and Outcast?

Outkast even. Hey [livejournal.com profile] stevem78, has anyone ever hilariously mashed up Outkast and Cast? And do you have their home address?

Eve's debut single innit and Outkast never had a hit until this one, although all of their singles before this one were ace too.

!! It's off her SECOND album!

(Eve tends to bring out the Lex in me)

So was B.O.B. not a hit, or was this rereleased after wards? I=confused.

Ms Jackson is of course made even more classic by being a Karaoke honeypot - the punters step up, confident that they can belt out the chorus, and how many words can there be in the verses anyway?

'BOB' was a hit, a quite big one I think, but just not on a Now (this is DC's first Now appearance too!).

Lots of hip hop acts are quite um lackadaisical when it comes to a) releasing and b) promoting singles in the UK - Eve bothers to do it more than most, which is to say that she still doesn't really bother at all.

i think 'B.O.B.' stalled in the charts somewhere in the 50s. i was really surprised to see Outkast were still around at that point. and when i first heard 'Miss Jackson' i was astounded it was them.

I have a feeling these were both of their first hit singles in the UK, which would explain it. But Destiny's Child were on their third album before getting on - which is criminal.

and 'Survivor' is one of my least favourite singles by them too!

I don't understand why they weren't on one before - their best work was behind them already at this stage, it all went downhill when Bouncy got more involvement with the writing and production. This song is SO overrated
