2001: A Pop Odyssey! As the Now series gets ever closer to today, a significant first - the first (modern) reality TV pop hit in the form of "Pure And Simple". Also debuting: Gorillaz, Bob The Builder, unlikely Poptimist icons Feeder, and nu-metal in the apologetic shape of Papa Roach.

All Saints' "Pure Shores" won Now 47 - hatas can reflect that it got one of the lowest winning %ages ever, with only 2/3 approval. Modjo second, Nelly third, and EVERYTHING got at least one vote - will we be able to say the same after this poll?

Let me clarify, I have only ticked Papa Roach due to their absolutely hilarious performance at Reading 2001. I thought I might as well hang around to watch them being as they were betwixt QOTSA and Marilyn Manson and me being right at the front and unable to leave easily.

This is an appalling Now.

I bought this one to give to my small cousins as an example of where pop was At in the UK - very poor choice.

I think it might be quite close though, which is at least vaguely exciting.

It's got some great stuff in the first bit, then it dies completely and is only revived by Mya and token 2-step right at the end.
