That's already Not-Britpop, in fact the Verve were never Britpop, remember they split up in mid-95 and only came back once the fuss had died down!

I'm thinking of bands like Ooberman or Rialto I guess, clinging on as the ship sank.

But Urban Hymns, I bought it cos I thought I *should*. This is symptomatic of NEW LABOUR SOURING THE CREAM.

Arguably the point at which Britpop really went Wrong(er) was when it stopped being about slightly camp boys in suit jackets and slightly androgynous girls with the same haircut as the boys, making short spiky pop songs, and started being about Serious all-male bands making Proper music as endorsed by Paul Weller (aka DadRock, LadRock, etc) - hence Urban Hymns as considered BritPop at the time by some.

i think 'Urban Hymns' counts as Britpop, representing where it went, what it became, how it died etc.

how do Shack fit into this?
