poptimistsPop World Cup: There will be NO PWC match this week, this is because of a number of things, partly me being really busy, partly some format fiddling. So next Monday we will have TWO matches, and the week afer we will have another TWO. So in lieu of other orgafun let's take a quick look at the state of the Poptimist nation, April 25th 2006. I was going to do these questions as a poll but actually, it makes much more sense to just list 'em and you can put yr answers in the comments.

3/ The Academy of St Martin-in-the-Fields' verz. of Vivaldi's *The Four Seasons*; The Police's "Every Breath You Take" 45; Michael Jackson's *Thriller*.
4/ I don't think I've heard the Vivaldi in nearly twenty years. I don't think I've emotionally responded to "Every Breath" in fifteen -- oldies earwash. I put on *Thriller* last week and it still sounds aMAYzing: MJ at his most bullshit-free.
5/ The Mountain Goats last winter.
6/ I don't think there's a single record I know that could be described this way -- I'm an open book, baby.
7/ Comments made in private about Daniel Powter's "Bad Day": "MEWLING ACOUSTICIZED WHITEBOY SONG" and "If Elton John was a gunslinger, he'd sure look funny."
8/ "EVERYTHING." "Everything? "EVERYTHING."
9/ I want to get those collector-porn recordings of all the Bach cantatas that John Eliot Gardiner conducted all over the world.
10/ I'm listening to two co-workers discussing AIA documents.
