Pop World Cup: There will be NO PWC match this week, this is because of a number of things, partly me being really busy, partly some format fiddling. So next Monday we will have TWO matches, and the week afer we will have another TWO. This means that I need MP3s from julietk and cis by this weekend, and MP3s from atommickbrane, katstevens, stevem78 and juror8 by NEXT weekend. There!



So in lieu of other orgafun let's take a quick look at the state of the Poptimist nation, April 25th 2006. I was going to do these questions as a poll but actually, it makes much more sense to just list 'em and you can put yr answers in the comments.

1/ "Out Of The Blue" by ELO in a drunken visit to the HMV sale last month.
2/ Surprisingly good, if a bit long.
3/ "Things Can Only Get Better" by Howard Jones on 7"
4/ I would like to like it, but no, it's a bit poor really. I can still remember the B Side!
5/ Unless anyone knows different, I've not been to one since Shimura Curves, last year sometime.
6/ I've been fairly public about all my tastes, maybe "Romeo And Juliet" by Dire Straits, except I've sang that one publically. Hmm.
7/ Boringly, the one on the playlists which bugs me most is probably "Wise Men" by James Blunt.
8/ "Pop, mostly."
9/ The new TI album, which thebopkids told me was very good.
10/ Eurythmics - "Beethoven", in which they invent electroclash.

I have been listening to that TI album also. It is good. The single 'What you Gonna Do about it' is a total monster, and prob. my single of the year.

I have also been listening to Jedi Mind Tricks presents Army of the Pharoahs; the E40 album; the Ghostface album; some mixtape stuff (Clipse, DJ Khaled and somebody, somebody with Lil Wayne, I think); and classic albums from Public Enemy, Beastie Boys, NWA, Erik B and Rakim, EPMD, LL Cool J.
