Now on an Wednesday, hence its new name of the "Wednesday Canon", and kicking off not with Madonna (tho see poll for more on this) but with pop darlings Girls Aloud. They've had 12 hits. You get 4 picks. Let's see who WINS.

[Poll #708860]

That's really not a bad foundation for a greatest hits, bulked out with choice album tracks anyway...

Ha ha ha, good timing, have just been listening to the mighty GURLS ALLOWED. One more single from 'Chemistry' in the next couple of months, non?

Has Madonna really had 25 more UK hits than the PSBs? Crikey.

Deciding between 'sound of the underground' and 'no good advice' == SO HARD.

I never understood why 'SOTU' was so beloved of everyone! It's great and all but it's aceness was v much "omg I didn't expect them to sound like this" - it is a formula yet to be perfected and I think it is categorically trumped by most of the bangers since.

oo i thort you'd deleted indieguilt - i tried a search for it and couldn't find it. otherwise that's where the PA question would have gone.

ISTR we've already established the rank of both the A-sides and B-sides of the "hit parade", but a canon-poll would not be out of the question

Or: second, then first, then fourth.

(The Chemistry release schedule should have been 'Biology', ''Wild Horses', 'Whole Lotta History', 'Watch Me Go')

yes. i can still imagine 'Swinging London Town' as a great single tho, albeit only in the brilliant fantasy universe that i inhabit in my mind.

It's not a formula, there still isn't another record that sounds remotely like it. Which obv is more than can be said for No Sharona.

Argh and SOTU isn't even in the top 4! You are all mentalists!

Separate 12" of banging electro remixes for SLT methinks. (maybe one which turns the quiet bit in the middle into a proper dance break, and which makes the whole think double the length) (these two things really are starting to annoy me about the original)

Unfortunately 'Swinging London Town' isn't a good single for much the same reasons that 'Graffiti My Soul' wasn't.

I've scrubbed my initial answer because I'm going to have a cup of tea consider my notes from when we thought about this.
