Be thankful you ungrateful swine, sit on jauntygrandad's knee and let me tell you of a time when "independent" music (for that was its name) was FOR REALZ and underachievers were exalted above all else, and there was choice of weekly inky newspaper (both largely crap) that you could buy with a fiver and still have change for a Red Wedge concert. A time when the "nobody understands me" crowd were sporting Mozzer quiffs, not slipknoot hoodies. Realactual goths stalked the world, and weren't seen outside of Leeds. THANK GOD THAT's GONE EH! A sad era that ended in the deluge that was the last great Indie-Dance wars of 1989. And it started something a bit like... this:
