Shine Too, then! Not expecting the popularity of the first focused Shine, featuring not only indieism but GOTHISM in the form of Sheee-sheee-sheee-YEEENE ONNNN, a crack team of Addidas wearing 'yoof' was pulled together to create today's poll fodder in the form of Shine:2. Or, SHINE TOO, because, they were clever, do you see. Gigolo Aunts perhaps the first symptom of the Britpop drivetime tendency? I mean, guys. Like, SRSLY. Although, I think I liked it at the time. Young pups Ash get to mingle with their elders and betters whilst the retro factor is continued with The Div, as no-one ever calls Joy Division, and some old todgers qui s'appelle, Le Happy Mondays. ON WITH THE VOTING!

The Elastica song is their worst, they sound knackered and diffident and they'd only done about 4 singles. Load of rub.

ahem

It's not that I'm agrophobic it's just that it's not safe To go outside anymoe so I just Stay indoors with my TV Times My petty crimes and my nursery rhymes, Someone said that the sound of a baby crying is the most beautiful sound in the World and beauty i s in the eyeOf the beholder but as my heart Grows colder, and colder I just Feel so tired. The fridge is empty, The walls are damp, there's no hot Water and I look like a tramp and Tramps like us baby we were born To walk but where does a mother's Girl go when her mother's gone? Some you win and some you lose I've spent my whole lifetime Falling on a bruise and if I had The chance to do it all again I'd change everything motorway dog star granite horse nuclear sky trash.

Strangely, that reads much better than I remember it sounding. Apart from the last eight words, that is.

It's also actually pretty Suedelike, you can really imagine Bertt doing it. GO ON, GISSA COVER.

I ticked well over half of this, OH DEAH. I spent 5 minutes (okay, only 15 seconds) going to and fro on Love Spreads. First ever single I bought, don'cha know.

I am v. glad to see Ash in the medals, though I suspect Pulp might do better if the titlehadn't been 'humourously' defaced.

Even the Pulp is a sodding B Side.

Ash = AWFUL. This was where they lost it, unless "Oh Yeah" was earlier.

I am totally ambivolent towards Pulp. I will not run screaming if it is eg put on kitchen stereo but in a dancefloor situation Pulp = time to go to the bar innit.

I count 11 (good) songs (I like) personally, tho I didn't bother ticking Joy Div. And Lightning Seeds is rub but I really liked it at the time. Broudie had inexplicable ability to cheer me up, probably because his light, breezy dadpop was the antidote to spending a bit too much time IN THE JUNGLE and was useful bridge back into ordinary everyday world (that could sometimes be okay).
