Time for another poll? Go on - you can fit one more in I'm sure.

Today it is Bangday and the Friday Canon turns its attention to Young People's Dance Music. Specifically one of the YPDM acts to actually put a good run of singles together. From the rave wonder of "Charly" to the, well, yes, let's look at the Prodigy and their works...

You get FIVE picks on this one.

In fact, Prodigy not best as singles band. Pretty much everything on Jiltered Generation is better than everything else. (hence my ticking mainly singles from around JG)

JG is a fantastic album, creative, full-on, way ahead of its time. Subsequent Prodigy only variations (albeit mainly good'uns) on those amazing themes. Never equalled it for ferocity, creativity, excitement.

Also: interesting thing of Prodigy totally emerging from Rave, crossing over and then being dissed by 'proper' ravers as being pop, or more often indie-rave - (I dimply remember seeing a customised Prodigy t-shirt with someone like 'rave for indie wankers' sprayed on it at a party) Pop not actually being a big crime, indie-rave being 'BEYOND THE PALE', apparently. ;)
