X Factor's Bowie cover is at #1 despite Wagner not appearing on it, Duffy's comeback single fails to crack the top 40 and the Gorillaz have put a donk on it.

[Poll #1650811]

Festive lower reaches watch: "All I Want For Christmas Is You" (#48) nips ahead of "Fairytale Of New York" (#51) for this year's Xmas re-entries (Wizzard are at #97). Brace yourselves though - "Chasing Cars" is at #94 and no-one has sung it on this year's X Factor yet.

End-of-year gubbins: tune in TOMORROW for details of the Poptimists 2010 vote. In the meantime *please* do go back and tick your favourites in the chart polls for this year. You have until January 1st 2011 to tick (or untick) anything you like. Your vote will make a difference, especially on 'drought' weeks where there aren't many ticks in total (there's some complicated sums behind this but trust me, 'don't like any' does make a difference). Let's look at the top songs from June again:

Standings as of June 2010:
Lady Gaga ft Beyonce - Telephone
Wiley & Chew Fu - Take That
Kelis - Acapella
Florence & The Machine - Dog Days Are Over
Rihanna - Te Amo
Lady Gaga - Alejandro
Alicia Keys - Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart
Glee Cast - Don't Stop Believin'
Vampire Weekend - Cousins
Marina & The Diamonds - I Am Not A Robot

Putting in the July-Nov contenders would be too much like spoilers, but it won't be too much to say that Cee-lo has done reasonably well. But maybe you're sick of Cee-lo by now? Some of you *must* be sick of Glee, at least - here is your chance to go and un-tick them and make sure justice is served. As well as satisfying your own fickle whims, doing so might help out songs later in the year that haven't had as many poll participants.

Bosh is the most obvious casualty of the tick deficit! DJ Fresh's awesome "Gold Dust" has just 4 ticks which is criminal, while only 8 of you like Duck Sauce. Way back in January, Sidney Sampson is languishing on 7 ticks - he's not even in the Poptimists Top 70 despite this.

Other underachievers include DJ Zinc & Ms Dynamite (who did so well over at Singles Jukebox), Marina & The Diamonds and Mercury Prize darlings The XX. But most worryingly Tinie Tempah may never get to go to Scunthorpe without your help! Despite being on the chart for 39 weeks, "Pass Out" only has one more tick than Vampire Weekend! At this rate he might have to move back to his aunt's house. SACRILEGE.

That Jessie J song is really offensive. It's the combination of lazy gendering (making Broken Heels look like the fvcking Female Eunuch) and the musical blackface; Lex-style rage blackout is achieved about 30 seconds in.

Kylie lovely but one of the weaker tracks off Aphrodite. It should've been title track or Closer for full organ spag-out Christmas lights bananas-ness in the video.

I suppose I should go and listen to the new Usher.

Yes, also in the context the use of 'brother' feels a bit awkward. The whole chorus has an appropriated accent.

Much to my surprise, I've ticked the X Factor Squillions for Squaddies malarkey. It's a bit of a bulletproof song though.
