Friday songs
Oct. 8th, 2010 04:08 pmRecently I have been compiling playlists appropriate for each weekday; Monday morning inertia, Tuesday ennui, Wednesday boredom, Thursday stress, Friday END OF SCHOOL.
Except of course Fridays are also a bit tired. It's all very well having in-yr-face bosh once you get out but first you've got to get there, probably from work and that means standing in someone's armpit on a train, no doubt. So the bosh must be a little more... well, not shy and retiring but more coaxing and friedly, before some dirty great bassline comes and punches your face in.
This is currently my favourite Friday song:
I don't like Adele, as a rule, however I can admit bias in the fact that I flippin' wuv High Contrast. He makes excellently friendly drum'n'bass and indeed, my Friday playlist would be in danger of becoming a series of his albums if it wasn't for the fact I limited myself to one song per artist.
What are your leaving-work-on-Friday songs, Poptimists?

Date: 2010-10-09 01:51 pm (UTC)I remember it took me several days to figure out the chords on this: weirdest chords ever on a song that doesn't sound weird. Also weird that the singer is being so smiley and with-it in the video, since the song is very much not a smiley song. More like brutal, I'd say; thrilling in the release provided by the chorus, but brutal - at least in the context of the sounds people were able to get out of their instruments in 1966.
Guitarist George Young is Malcolm's and Angus's older brother. He and other guitarist Harry Vanda went on to produce the early AC/DC albums.
