The mercury is rising, the football jingoism is long gone, and the GBP can get on with the important business of eating ice cream and getting sunburnt. Katy and Snoop hit the top spot.

Ha, no crossover with anything on my top 20, but a number of these are on my long list (e.g., Tinie, Sophie).

I find it embarassingly sexy to the point where I have had to stop listening to it in public but then I do love a bit of chug.

Shit I forgot the best one of them all!

Perfume - Natural Beauty, the most cracking, crackling and optimistic thing I've heard this decade. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edyARJq9sgM

I didn't know that "Night and Day" was a release at all (thought it was only leaked, admittedly last year, but it's on my list in hopes it'll get a release this year; but if it did last year, I don't suppose it can stay).

Katy Perry ft. Snoop Dogg "California Gurls": Where her voice had once scratched and grated, here in the glittering light it sounds like bright and goofy sound effects. TICK.

Eminem ft. Rihanna "Love The Way You Lie": The cornered, weaving, lost soul of "Kim," but the voice is now overweight and tired. Sad. Rihanna is beautiful, but that's not enough to resuscitate this. NO TICK.

Scissor Sisters "Fire With Fire": Shears doesn't have the voice to lift this even an inch off the floor. NO TICK.

Diddy - Dirty Money ft. T.I. "Hello Good Morning": Diddy's an announcer more than a rapper here, and that fits the track: big bass, stage setting, sky painting, and quick bits of rapping from T.I. TICK.

Big Boi "Shutterbugg": Elastic voice at the start, then excellent swaying and rhythm shifts from Boi's mouth, shadowed by blips. Still feels vague and unfocused overall, deliberately, but I wish it didn't. BORDERLINE TICK.
