Ok yes the bit where the malepeas attempt to sing is sort of embarassing and means it stays at 'touchingly amateurish' rather than 'EPIC HEARTBLEED' but Fergie giving it enough poise and regal dignity (unlikely sentences, etc.) to more than sustain itself as a beautiful bit of longing.
I really like the Aggros Santos/Legwavey song and am not sure whether this should be chalked up on the board of 'reasons I am not allowed my badge back.'

Date: 2010-05-11 10:12 pm (UTC)Aggro Santos ft. Kimberly Wyatt "Candy": She says that her leg is a celebrity in its own right. Now her voice gets a chance, and it's a pleasant surprise, coolly amused but ready any second to launch into giggles and gasps, while the not-so-aggressive Mr. Santos charmingly plugs his Website. TICK.
Fyfe Dangerfield "Always A Woman": A bag of water, kind of heavy. NO TICK.
Sophie Ellis-Bextor "Bittersweet": The Girls Aloud song this copies made my Pazz & Jop, and Sophie inhabits it as if it were something of a haunted house, sounding a bit wide-eyed behind her aplomb. TICK.
Rihanna "Te Amo": I'm ecstatic that this is in the charts, Rihanna's burnt voice working perfectly by adding pain to a tune that could otherwise symbolize "island romp" to someone not attending too closely to the lyrics. TICK.
Kevin Rudolf, Birdman, Jay Sean, and Lil Wayne "I Made It (Cash Money Heroes)": Big drums live within a soothing atmosphere, nice tune, even if Wayne is the only rapper here who has any business opening his mouth. BORDERLINE TICK.
Biffy Clyro "Bubbles": The singers sing but aren't aware. NO TICK.
