It's Friday! Tom's done two more great columns: one on indie comic Phonogram for Pitchfork and another on South African house & the Pop World Cup for the Grau.

Speaking of PWC, why not pay a visit to Freaky Trigger and vote in the Round of 16 matches? Slovenia will be VERY grateful if you do :)

The belated results of Heat #2 of the Country Poll are IN, with Miranda Lambert, Loretta Lynn & Jack White, Dixie Chicks and three Big & Rich tracks all coming up trumps. Well done everyone who took the plunge!

Next Friday (7th May) is post-election POPTIMISM! Horse Bar in Waterloo from 7pm, free entry. Place bets now on who will play 'Heavy Cross' and who will play 'I Got Election' by Turbonegro.

Finally, the 2000 polls will return next week. Get thinking about your nominations for 2006 now!
