Date: 2010-04-06 02:55 pm (UTC)Plan B "She Said": Weird! A fellow with no voice somehow reinvents himself as a not-retro '60s singer on the border* between soul and garage rock - very sketchy at it, given his voice, but moving nonetheless, though I don't know how he does it. TICK.
*A non-sketchy analogue from the genuine '60s would be "No Good To Cry" from Connecticut homeboys the Wildweeds, though that's punchier and less Mayfieldy than "She Said" is.
Delirious? "History Makers": Not-even-adequate U2 Bono imitator immerses himself into watery broth made from vegetables that long since have had the flavor squeezed out. NO TICK.
As per my March answer
Date: 2010-04-06 07:46 pm (UTC)and here's that Cassie remix in isolation at dude's Soundcloud.
Failed horribly at new pop last month, really; was getting most of what new stuffs I got via 12inches and dubstepetc blogs (and even that was limited). That said, here's some other things I really enjoyed:
Ben Klock feat. Elif Bicer - Goodly Sin (Robert Hood Remix)
James Fox - Rebuildings
Starkey feat. Anneka - Stars (partly for the excellent & weird video, I admit, but mostly for the amazingness that comes in at 2:20) (footnote: Slugabed remix is also really, really lovely)
(And of course in the old stuff corner there's possibly my favourite thing discovered through the decade polls so far, heh)
