Hope you all had a nice long weekend! Yet another Facebook campaign manages to get ancient Christian rock band Delirious? into the top 5 for Easter weekend. But SATAN'S AGENTS* Scouting For Girls beat them to the top spot!

[Poll #1547933]
*NB Scouting For Girls may not actually be in league with the forces of darkness.
**New to you, or new to the world - however you interpret it is fine.

ORGAFUN ROUND-UP:
- This week sees the final group matches for all the teams in the Pop World Cup. Head over to Freaky Trigger to listen and vote in all current matches.
- There's still time to vote in Heat #1 of A Decade In Country! Heat #2 will go up tomorrow.
- The next round of Theme Songs is in progress! Suggest some songs for [livejournal.com profile] girlboymusic about Willingly Abstaining from Sex and/or Relationships Until You Find True Love or a Decent Man/Woman or Somesuch! You have until Friday.

Cripes, I used to sing that Delirious? song at church a LONG time ago. It's not very good. Silly Facebook!

It's not great but it is a shining beacon of something or other compared to the other two in the poll.

BTW, am I right that the N-Dubz song new @ #40 is not previously polled?

4/4/10. Charts Officially Jump Shark.

Scouting For Noez walked a million miles while Poptimists were asleep? My resignation is on someone's desk. I expect yours will follow shortly.

Scouting For Girls "This Ain't A Love Song": Is kinda tuneful in the chorus, which makes it better than any other Scouting For Girls song I've heard. Which raises this to the level of tired, dogged mainstream mediocrity that people like, I don't know, Sting or Rob Thomas could make sound passable, though you'd hope they'd add more interesting lyrics. NO TICK.

Plan B "She Said": Weird! A fellow with no voice somehow reinvents himself as a not-retro '60s singer on the border* between soul and garage rock - very sketchy at it, given his voice, but moving nonetheless, though I don't know how he does it. TICK.

*A non-sketchy analogue from the genuine '60s would be "No Good To Cry" from Connecticut homeboys the Wildweeds, though that's punchier and less Mayfieldy than "She Said" is.

Delirious? "History Makers": Not-even-adequate U2 Bono imitator immerses himself into watery broth made from vegetables that long since have had the flavor squeezed out. NO TICK.

Hovatron mixtape in question; quite brilliant
and here's that Cassie remix in isolation at dude's Soundcloud.

Failed horribly at new pop last month, really; was getting most of what new stuffs I got via 12inches and dubstepetc blogs (and even that was limited). That said, here's some other things I really enjoyed:

Ben Klock feat. Elif Bicer - Goodly Sin (Robert Hood Remix)
James Fox - Rebuildings
Starkey feat. Anneka - Stars (partly for the excellent & weird video, I admit, but mostly for the amazingness that comes in at 2:20) (footnote: Slugabed remix is also really, really lovely)

(And of course in the old stuff corner there's possibly my favourite thing discovered through the decade polls so far, heh)

Oh, another new to me track that I forgot to list:

Taylor Swift doing a karaoke of Miranda Lambert's "Gunpowder And Lead." She's duetting with Mallary Hope, but it's Taylor who owns it, not surprisingly.
