Stoopid me only just realised that this image changes every week (how else could it be??)
Amy Diamond - What's in It for Me 5
Destiny's Child - Check On It (Beyonce Feat. Slim Thug) 5
Johnny Boy - Fifteen Minutes 5
Belle and Sebastian - Funny Little Frog 5
Robyn - Konichiwa bitches 4
Rachel Stevens - Funny How 4
Robyn - Eclipse 4
Girls Aloud - Wild Horses 4
The Chirpy Chappies - Girl, You Know It's Shrewsbury 4
Ashlee Simpson - L.O.V.E. 4

Amy still in the big writing at the top, but it's a joint #1 Joint places look like they are alpha sorted so my prediction that Bouncey would be this weeks #1 sort of came off. EXCEPT SORT OUT YR METADATA PPL - this is clearly not Density's Child, but Bouncey on her ownsome (well apart from that feat. there). Bad mp3 tags withstanding (naughty mp3 sharers in not caring about metadata shoXoR), Bouncey Knowles would not sort any higher than Amy Diamond i spose.

Anyway... *scans down the top 10 tracks*, Robyn, yup, Rachel, sure , The Chirpy Chappies, Ashlee, right... HANG ON

The Chirpy Chappies "Girl, You Know It's Shrewsbury". Not only is this transparently a "comedy record" only played 4 times by poptimists - but lastFM sez that only 5 ppl have listened to it ever. I SMELL A CHART FIX. Own up whoever you are.

Maybe when the UK charts first started in '52, Al Martino's agents spotted a flaw in the low sample size, that only 20 people were buying records anyway, and quickly went round and bought 5 copies of his smash "Here in My Heart" thus assuring an early sensation for the strange-haired crooner. This does not make it right.

That Chirpy Chappies song is what skillextric called the Arctic Monkeys single to get it YSI-ed - clearly the Stylus UK Jukebox people have been listening to it many times as some kind of awful self-flagellation.

The Beyonce song is the only thing in that top 10 that's crap. The Arctic Monkeys single is Quite Good, and "Funny Little Frog" is aces, LOL INDIE ETC.

BEYONCE IS PABULUM! HONOR THE FIRE!

I only know two Killing Joke songs, but I like one of them, which is a 50% strike rate, loads better than Beyonce has.

the beyoncé song is ace! how can you love 'push the button' and hate 'check on it', they are exactly the same type of song.

I agree, the Beyonce song is beyond brilliant.

Because one is a hookless load of sludgy, static waffle with needless come-hither bits by an overacting ham, and one is "Push The Button" which has hilarious lyrics, nags in a good way and is stupidly fun to dance to.

My general opinion of Beyonce is that she's secretly rubbish. I think I only like four or five Destiny's Child singles too (Bootylicious, definitely, also Bills Bills Bills, Bugaboo, Get On The Bus, also, and Jumpin' Jumpin' slightly).

aha but 'check on it' is exactly like 'push the button' in that it is underwhelming at first and then you realise you can't get it out of your head.

beyoncé is not secretly rubbish at all, she is a force of nature or possibly kapitalism, and the writing's on the wall is seminal album of late 90s r&b!

I like "The Writing's On The Wall" well enough, but after that, they got a bit strident for me. Also, that remix of Nasty Girl is nothing but a shoddy TARZAN BOY rip-off.

When they're good, they're very good, but oftentimes I can't see what the fuss is about. I don't like any Beyonce solo singles except for the bit of Crazy In love that Jay-Z does not talk over.

ah the stridency - i see why this would turn many people off but it's kind of the appeal of dc/beyoncé for me. like, yes they are the horrible snotty girls in high school! that is why they are greeat, that is their essence.

i am a proponent of the view that 'baby boy', 'work it out' and 'naughty girl' are all better than 'crazy in love'.

Well, as far as ONE Of those songs goes, Sean Paul >>>>>>>> Jay-Z. If Sean Paul had been on "Crazy In Love", I would be totally down with it.

The problem with "Work It Out" is that the production sounds exactly the same as at least two other Neptunes productions.

i agree that s paul >>>> jay-z! jay-z can come back when he does a song as good as 'get busy' or even 'we be burnin'. (and i like jay-z fine.) the second verse is what i love most about 'baby biy' though - beyoncé really nails the vocal.

no other neps production sounds quite that much like james brown, or has insane shark-eyed beyoncé hollering like that over it.

I note some of Stylus's single selection for the week in there. Also, I think my Density's Child tag is wrong because it was originally on a Destiny's Child album, even if it is credited to Bouncy ftr. (Not that I am on this thing anyway.)

I turn my last.fm plug-in off when reviewing songs for the jukebox, hence my data remains uncorrupted.

Beyoncé track is credited officially to Beyoncé, but it's a bonus track on the new Destiny's Child best-of. It's produced by Swizz Beatz, which means this is his first entry into the Billboard Top 5 since... whenever he was last in the Billboard Top 5; it's not been ecent. 2001, maybe?

ecent = recent

Also, even more ecent/recent is "L.O.V.E. (Missy Underground Mix)" which I heard a 30-second clip of on Launch Yahoo; I thought it was too short a clip to figure out what I thought, though my veerings were towards love or at least like. The original was Ashlee of the Earnest and Tormented Disposition being uncharacteristically sunny and gorgeous; so Missy changes the key from major to minor and dooms it up for her.
