# 10 song per person limit on stuff that didn't chart in the UK top 40 in 2005 (except for [livejournal.com profile] koganbot, [livejournal.com profile] credoimprobus, [livejournal.com profile] friend_of_tofu and [livejournal.com profile] jeff_worrell who get 11).

# Nominate as many charting hits as you like.

# Nominating fewer than 10 non-charting songs is perfectly fine.

# Do check everyhit for chart placings: if your song might be spelled weirdly and doesn't show up in the results, try searching by artist instead of title (or vice versa) or using 'contains the word' instead of 'first few letters'.

# Posting nominations in a new comment thread rather than as a reply to another comment is strongly recommended, as I am lazy and therefore unlikely to go digging around in nested comments etc.

# Don't worry about repeating someone else's nomination - as far as humanly possible I'll let you know if one of your ten picks is already nominated so you can choose another one.

# Nominate double-A sides and EP tracks separately please!

# Any queries regarding years/chart positions shall be subject to my WHIM.

# Need more help? Have a look at the examples on the 2002 nominations post.

One extra rule for 2005: NO ELVIS RE-ISSUES ALLOWED.

(because you can never start repping too early!)

Jori Hulkkonen feat. John Foxx - Dislocated
would be my tune of the year if if 1 Thing (which may be my tune of the decade) didn't exist; may be familiar to peeps wut checked that I Has a Plan-centric mix of mine a couple of years (DEAR GOD) back.

Rachael Starr - Till There Was You (Gabriel & Dresden Remix)
massive, crushing, molasses-dark trance; unquestionably my remix of the decade. Because I am a GIANT GOTH.

Disco Ensemble - We Might Fall Apart
RIFF OF THE MF'IN YEAR. If anyone tries to tell me otherwise, they will be VERY WRONG.

iiO - Chastity
iiO - Kiss You
breaking my one track per artist rule because if I can't do it for my album of the decade, etc etc; one indulgent personal (as it were) pick (the hypnotically repetitive 9-min long one with only 3 mins of vocals in the middle, which incidentally is also THE BEST TRACK ON THE ALBUM), and the er more populist pick (as much as anything on Poetica can qualify as "populist", which is NOT A LOT -- still, was a single and everything! also is one of the album's hookiest numbers)

Vex'd - Lion VIP
SUPER SUPER SUPER (SUPER) BANGING, OMG. Aka the dubstep invasion starts HERE! Nothing like canonised, but it remains one of my favourite early(ish) dubstep tunes AAAAGH.

Booka Shade - Mandarine Girl
I trust someone more invested will be nominating The Obvious One, yes? Anyway, I really prefer the '06 album version (by a fair margin), but you gotta keep this stuff to year of impact innit!

Stam1na - Kadonneet kolme sanaa
because I can't be from Finland and not nominate Finnish metal at some point, right? XD Amazing debut single from what's become our possibly most critically acclaimed metal band; one of my domestic (and otherwise!) tunes of the decade. IMO they still haven't really topped this first heady height.

Smithmonger vs. Kobi - Grizzle
ridic awesome breaksy (?) stuff!

Mice Parade - Milton Road (Kim Hiorthøy My Skull With Flowers Remix)
Obligatory unnecessarily obscure pick; because I didn't have the heart to pick Roll Deep* over this one even though it is going to get NO TICKS. <33333

JME - Serious
JUST! BOP YOUR HEAD! TO THE BEAT!

*) if anyone else wld feel moved to nominate that Roll Deep track, though, I wouldn't mind in the least! That airy piano riff was one of the best things about my 2005, waaaah <3 <3

You're convincing me to hunt down Poetica. Until just now, when I Wiki'd them, I'd had no idea that iio were New York. I'd assumed London or Brussels or Paris or somewhere like that.

Ha, I'd always thought they were European too, until I looked them up on Discogs last year. Never should assume, should one! (Also: HURRAY! My devious scheme of Getting People To Hear Poetica is working already! :))
