Almost there! And we'll finish off after lunch.

12. THE LONELY ISLAND ft T-PAIN - "I'm On A Boat" (80 points)

He fucked a mermaid. Vevo means the video is the uncensored version however.

11. THE-DREAM - "Fancy" (83 points)

Pretty sure this is the highest-placing album track (if such distinctions make a difference any more). It's also one of the oddest songs of the year, but you knew that already.

10. LADY GAGA - "Poker Face" (87 points)

Muffin, bluffin', etc.

9. ROYKSOPP ft ROBYN - "The Girl And The Robot" (95 points)

Embedding disabled so go here to see Robyn's mechanical love life revealed.

8. YEAH YEAH YEAHS - "Zero" (99 points)

The video seems very quiet. Anyway, tipped to be higher by some, I think there was votesplitting with "Heads Will Roll" though.

7. JAY-Z ft ALICIA KEYS - "Empire State Of Mind" (100 points)

Some days I really enjoy this record, others I can't bear it.

BOAT

Not that I really need to watch that video again (I didn't vote for the song either, tho I find it amusing), but it's the censored version.

i find the self-congratulatory 'yaaay new york that's where we live' aspect tiresome which is only half jealousy. it has been a bit of a grower but still nowhere near my top 100.

I put it @ #21 in my personal list but pushed it up higher in my ballot.

#7 in this context feels right and proper to me. Should have been higher than Das RUBist though.

You should take a look at Erika's writeup (buried down on a comment thread), if you haven't already.

I really do wonder what "Empire State Of Mind" stans are doing during the verses of that song, because SURELY it cannot be listening to and enjoying Jay-Z's horribly awkward flow. I mean, even the chorus is kinda hokey; powerful but also empty, not the anthem it wants to be, certainly not a single of the year.

I also really resent "Empire State Of Mind" for somehow taking all the attention away from Alicia's AMAZING "Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart" - both big, cornball choruses (she knows no other way) and yet the emptiness of "Empire" wins out? UGH PEOPLE.

I pretty much agree, though the track has grown on me; but oddly enough I'm rooting for it to win Pazz & Jop, 'cause it's the only thing I can think of that's likely to beat Animal Collective (though maybe I'm underestimating "Zero"'s chances).

YAY ROBOT LOVE!

My entire existence is validated by it being in the Top 10.

Hmm, by my count then there's only five locks for the top six: The Fear, Bad Romance, Combination Blah Blah and Srsly?, She-Wolf/Lobo and presumably the Taylor Swift song which I still haven't heard. Any ideas what the sixth will be? I'd love to think it'd be Bonkers, but I suspect the fanbase is a) those in the UK and b) specifically those who have seen it 'dropped' at Poptimism.

Bonkers must surely be there. If you voted for it, I can guarantee it.

Well, I guess that kills "TiK ToK"'s chances. (Ke$ha appalls me, but I keep giving her music good grades.)

And a few points from mine. Not many though - I put 'Holiday' higher.

I'd categorized my tracks as Yes will certainly make the top forty, Probable to make the top forty, Possible to make the top forty, I'm Curious what it will do, and No chance at making the top forty. I'd put "The Girl And The Robot" down among the curious, along with "Summer Charm" (near miss at 42nd place) and "Heels" (72nd). It got support on the Jukebox, but I wasn't sensing enthusiasm among the [livejournal.com profile] poptimists.

I only had two Yesses: Shystie, who placed at 15th, and one to come. My highest-ranking No was "Untouchable," which surprised me at 47th. My high Possible was "Runaway" at 31st and my other Possible was "Beam Me Up Scotty" at 45th, which was higher than two of my Probables ("Boom Boom Pow" at 66th and "3" at a wretched 81st). My only other Probable was "I'm On A Boat," which I really couldn't predict, though obviously I should have given it a solid Yes. (Rounding out the hits, another No, "Baako," came in at 84th.)
