The next ten. Something for everyone here I'd say.
60. ROYKSOPP ft KARIN DREIJER ANDERSSON - "This Must Be It"
Embedding disabled for this video full of neo-hippie oddness and DRUMS ON A BIKE.
59. NINA SKY - "On Some Bullshit"
This was the lowest-placed song to get 3 votes - sorry Nina and Sky. They do look like they're having an enormous amount of fun though so I doubt they mind.
58. THE BANGZ - "Boyz With Tattoos (We Jerkin)"
If the TRIBES OF JERK had united around songs any of these lowish-placed ones might have gone higher.
57. DIZZEE RASCAL - "Holiday"
This is a Club Tropicana pisstake no?
56. ELECTRIK RED - "Freaky Freaky"
Fan made stills vid for this E-Red album track.
55. LILY ALLEN - "Not Fair"
No embedding. It's not fair and I think Parlophone are really mean. :(
54. BUSY SIGNAL - "Da Style Deh"
Singles Jukebox sensation makes Poptimists crossover - a rare incursion for a dancehall track! No video though.
53. THE JUAN MACLEAN - "One Day"
So 80s it makes La Roux look like the Spin Doctors.
52. CAMERA OBSCURA - "French Navy"
You'd never have got away with a beard like that in the days of Proper Indie.
51. LITTLE BOOTS - "New In Town"
Little Boots in downtown LA. A significant chunk of points were for the Fred Falke remix.

Date: 2010-01-11 03:28 pm (UTC)Electrik Red is one of a few acts this year where a ridonkulous amount of tracks (6 i think) got nominated - Lily A is another. (Camera Obscura is a third but they were all nominated by the same person). At one point it looked like this would completely scupper them.

Date: 2010-01-11 03:51 pm (UTC)Also, from a "showing off the greatness" POV is it better to have one really high placing song or several lower-placed ones?

Date: 2010-01-11 03:44 pm (UTC)I have been burnt by this multiple track nomination fannydangle in the past - I'm sure piratemoggy and I could have got Of Montreal much higher a couple of years back if I'd been more on the ball and picked the track she liked best. So this year I just avoided such artists!
I would have picked Holiday but I was operating a strict one-track-per-artist rule and went for a different Dizzee... Of course I then broke the one-track rule for another artist.

And I'm not convinced by the C Obscura track though I'm prepared to give it time, since I was really mean to "Lloyd, I'm Ready.." when it showed up in this poll a while ago and then ended up loving it.

Date: 2010-01-11 03:57 pm (UTC)you're in a majority :(
'French Navy' is more like an anti-grower to me. There's a battle between the general sound (plus her nice voice) and lines like "you make me go ooo-oo-oooh" and i fear the latter might win out in the end and i'll be too fed up with it ('Lloyd...' is still great tho).

Date: 2010-01-11 04:05 pm (UTC)On the other hand, fully agree on the Camera Obscura track - really surprised it made it in here. "Lloyd" was my #1 of 2006 and while I don't actively dislike French Navy it didn't make my 50 this year.

Date: 2010-01-11 04:43 pm (UTC)Ditto, sort of. I like this track (but The Emperor Machine remix is waaaay better) and "No Time" and the intro to track #1. Also "Happy House" of course. But all those bits added together aren't quite enough to make the album a real favourite.
