Girls Aloud comfortably through along with tATu and Justin; Missy and Lumidee fend off the rest of the competition.

Today: double Mis-teeq, double Shut Ups and dead cartoon children rapping from the afterlife. Waah! It's heat #7!

  • You get SIX TICKS over the three bits of the poll, unless you played the investigation game on the previous heat and told us all your new favourite (and why). Put your new favourite in the box below and get an extra tick for the next heat - do this on five or more of the eight heats and get an extra nomination slot for 2004!

  • The top five in each heat will go through to the next stage. Make sure you rep for your faves in the comments!

  • If you want to fill in the 'best song I only heard today' box later, change your vote (or tick too many by mistake), you can edit your votes by clicking on 'Poll #12345' then 'Fill Out Poll'.

  • You have until Friday lunchtime to vote

[Poll #1486675]

Extra ticks for this heat go to [livejournal.com profile] friend_of_tofu, [livejournal.com profile] jeff_worrell, [livejournal.com profile] koganbot and [livejournal.com profile] credoimprobus.

I also like "Nothing Good About This Goodbye", "Negotiate with Love", "Dumb Dumb", and oh probably most of them actually. But I'd put "Some Girls" at #1.

My number one is "So Good" for having the most unopposable hi-NRG tsunami flow. Would also like to put in a good word for "Crazy Boys" (and of course "I Said Never Again (But Here We Are)" and "Some Girls"). Was she the lead on S Club's "Love Ain't Gonna Wait For You"? If so, that's my number two. But I need to be reminded what "My LA Ex" sounds like. Will go listen now.

Wiki exploring reveals Jo's post–S Club career to be star-crossed (or personality-crossed), but anyway, what would you say her achievements or lack thereof as a singer have been, both in and after S Club? She/they/whoever created emotion in "Love Ain't Gonna Wait For You" that I wasn't expecting from that group or that approach.

I don't know her particular neighborhood of dance-pop very well.

2. I Will Be There
3. Fools
4. I Said Never Again
5. Blue Afternoon
6. Glide

.
998. More More More
999. Some Girls
1000. Crazy Boys

will never never never understand your Richard X hate. 'Crazy Boys' easily one of her best.

My top Rachel Stevens song is actually this b-side -- either that or Funny How, I think.

Always assumed the title was inspired by the airport, so I picture Rachel's diatribe taking place in a terminal, with hurried passengers scurrying by:
