(I've paid almost no attention to Kris/BDP over the years, but didn't he once make a reference on record to his descent from "Original Asiatic man"? So the new religion would seem to be a turning away from that, his no longer trying to validate himself through pedigree. But as I say, I'm speaking in almost total ignorance here.)
