Cheers erupt from the J-Lo fanclub as she squeezes into the final behind Outkast, Eve & Gwen, Missy and Mis-teeq. Sophie E-B on the other hand is wiping her tears on Dude from The Feeling's velvet jacket sleeve.

On to heat #6, which is absolutely banging in my opinion, but who will make it through?

Look, I can see what this is trying to do.

The problem isn't that it /fails/, it's that I can /see it trying/.

It feels calculated, like someone pressed the anthem button and then turned all the dials up to eleven. And the whole album is like this!

At a party, I'd dance to it and I'm sure it'd be popular, but I can't really /endorse/ it as such. It feels a little empty. Even the vocal doesn't sound fully engaged.

Is Wyclef inexplicably out of character and good for once?

I'm on board with this campaign. But yes, this is not a good situation. How the HELL is 'Oochie Wally' only on SIX ticks.

I unticked J-Lo to rep for 'Salsoul Nugget' and 'Sambuca' but could easily give that tick back. Frankly Andrew WK should be ahead of NONE of those and I dare anyone to explain how they're worse. Otherwise...hey, could we drum up 5-6 more ticks for 'Pop Ya Collar'?? I am hopeful!

Right, that's it, tick off from J-Lo, which is a shame as it's quite a good song. But erasing Andrew W.K. from the history of Pop would be an absolute crime.

Very happy to see Romeo so easily through -- it may well be my favourite Big Hit of the year.

I'd love to see a run-off between "Party Hard" and J-Lo's "Play." I bet you could draw an interesting Poptimists taste line between those two tracks for some reason. And not just "those who have it and those who don't" (consider yrself PRE-EMPTED, alexmacpherson).

I don't! Because I suspect Andrew WK would win. 'Play' is excellent but not even a J-Lo classic.

The run-off with potentially interesting taste lines I'd have really liked to see was Sophie E-B vs J-Lo in the last round...two v different models of the "perfect pop star".

could be a 4 way run off with me now unticking Sugababes to bring Wyclef into this (actually hated Perfect Gentlemen at the time but not as much as i hated Party Hard)
