[Poll #1439002]
Reminder - you have until tomorrow lunchtime to vote in Heat #5 of 2001, in which there is much wailing and gnashing of teeth going on as to the fate of one Ms Jennifer Lopez...

Date: 2009-08-03 01:10 pm (UTC)John Barrowman "I Made It Through The Rain": I thought this might be a parody owing to its utter lack of style, emotion, or any kind of distinction (the gag being to treat grandpa pop as dead people's music), but reading Wikipedia I see Barrowman is considered quite the inspiring figure. NO TICK.
Sean Kingston "Fire Burning": First Sean Kingston single that doesn't sound incurably weak, and this is not because he's suddenly grown muscles but because its relentless prettiness and the overdubs of beauty compensate for Sean's weakness. So RedOne's typical overbearing production isn't a problem, as it's exactly what Sean needs. TICK.
Little Boots "Remedy": Liked "New In Town" a lot, but this one sounds like stylization layered atop stylization. NO TICK.
Sub Focus "Rock It": Electro cuteness broken up by tiresome power chords. NO TICK.
Flo Rida f. Nelly Furtado "Jump": Nelly's harmonies tingle like quinine and Flo Rida's mediocre rapping is adequate, bouncing atop a tugboat horn. TICK.
