You might think it unlucky that two good but kinda minor Missy singles show up in the same heat, but I wonder if it's going to end up unlucky for all the people who aren't Missy since they're both in the frontrunners.

Both of em are in the ten best tracks listed, but it would also be somehow a shame if they both went through.

They're both pretty amazing (tho) - prefer 'Lick Shots' b/c her flow is MENTAL on that, but I'd rather hear either over 'Get Ur Freak On' right now. It's the fate of so many ::canon:: singles to end up regarded with a degree of ambivalence, while you always retain your affection for minor singles and deep album cuts. (See: 'Ms Jackson'! Which is totally overrated anyway.)

Yup, relistening to 'Lick Shots' now and OMG her growls and yelps are kind of astounding - even more out-there than her vocal tics on 'Get Ur Freak On' tbh. "If I give you head you'll never leave - RRRUUHHHH! Stop sweatin' me!"

it's an under-rated joint from Timbaland also - the arpeggiated acidy loop that joins Missy for her 2nd run, and the bluesy guitar together - pretty subtle but so dope. when i first heard it, tacked on to the end of the 'Get Ur Freak On' video - always loved it when rap vids did this) i did the homer floor dance (if you don't know what this is n/m).
