The upside to recession and global conflict? The Dolly Rockers, apparently.

You can choose the highlights from their magnificent band bio yourself, but I would just mention this:

Dolly Rockers belong to the generation who want pop back on their own terms. A generation who make no distinction between Spice Girls ‘Wannabe’ and Blur’s ‘Girls & Boys’

Sounds great! One paragraph later:

“We don’t feel we have much in common with manufactured girl bands. Pop music to us is Arctic Monkeys, Lily Allen, Mark Ronson…”

(TBH I quite enjoyed the one song I heard by them. So I don't want to blame them for the worst piece of pop writing this year.)

I'll just leave this icon here until I can comment at greater length.

Apparently they are in the midst of a "war with words" with The Saturdays. I can't imagine a beef more pointless.

HAHAHAHAHAH WHAT? I realise this is far too much effort for the content but someone needs to link evidence of this.

I can't imagine the Saturdays being horrible about anyone, they're all too politely faceless. (altho must get self Vanessa icon for gallery of wives and tbh do think the whole Dougie From McFly/Frankie thing is awesome cute)

I think I saw it in the pit of illiterate hell known as Digital Spy (and I'm talking about the official content not just the forum arf).

Haha, yes.

Dolly Rockers= badly done UK attempt to create a wh0repop group?

(I also quite liked 'Je Suis Un Dolly' when I heard it whilst I was working at PJ)

(This is my deleted post, by the way, I was correcting a misspelling of the word "Un")

It's possible that hearing it without the video would make it seem less bad, I would be interested to read your critical reappraisal of the "complete package".

When I read this bio, it makes me feel like I am back in the 1990s.

Which song did you enjoy by them? I've only seen the video for Je Suis Une Dolly, but it was, as far as I remember, the most horrible thing I've seen / heard all year.

"Pop music to us is Arctic Monkeys, Lily Allen, Mark Ronson..."

Could a consequence of televisualised under-the-hood reality makings of pop groups in the public eye be that idiots start to presume that because they have not been shown the process of a group's manufacturing via a TV show, that what they're looking at isn't manufactured? Very nice trick if you can make it work, labels.
