Slim pickings today - JLS still at number 1 yadda yadda. However I have just seen an advert for this on the telly which looks AWESOME YOU GUYS.

[Poll #1435721]
Reminder: you've got until tomorrow lunchtime (or possibly a bit later depending on how much work I've got on) to vote in Heat #3 of 2001.

A huge "HELL no" to both. Just heard the Mr Hudson for the first time and wow it is even more awful than I was prepared for. Overdone powerballad mannerisms undercut by awkward choppy beat, his TERRIBLE voice and lyrics about trust funds. DNW.

"Confusion Girl" sounds like a Peter Andre song. Not necessarily a criticism, but this can't be what he was aiming for.

Mr Hudson a marginal tick, but I may change my mind.

Second listen confirms "Supernova" is actually not so good. Too much Kanye and yet not much going for it if you ignore his bits. What would Mrs Bridges have thought? is what I want to know.

I hated the Mr Hudson/Kanye at first but it has vaguely earwormed me.

The new mix of Confusion Girl is SH1T.

Mr. Hudson f. Kanye West "Supernova": Having read the coverage in Jukebox I was expecting big empty Britpop mannerisms that smart listeners would try manfully to resist, without necessarily succeeding. As expected I tried to resist, failed, though I would prefer that the Hudson-Kanye ratio were higher. TICK.

Frankmusik "Confusion Girl": Listening to this reminds me that I often think Brits are walking around with pickles up their ass when it comes to pop. The melody's OK, but the bright little beats and full orchestration, while hardly gigantic, are heavier than the song can carry. NO TICK.

(Meanwhile over in Heat #3, Alicia Keys has fallen one vote out of fifth. This is sad.)

I'm glad I'm not the only one excited about Bandslam! (unless you are only joking? I really am excited, though) Do you know it has the same director as the legendarily ace teen musical, Camp?
