I can't get spotify anyway, but I doubt that tribute versions are going to elicit many ticks.

Werrrl, I personally wouldn;t judge a track by it's tribute version, but to the extent that people might be using the playlist purely as a memory trigger ("how does that one go again") even a tribute version would be useful. If people who're using the playlists would rather not have them in there, though, I'll happily omit them.

(is anyone but me using the playlists? Spotify gives me no stats)

Well, can they tell it's a tribute when they listen? My sense is that very few people on [livejournal.com profile] poptimists have a memory of Tim McGraw to trigger in the first place, and aren't interested in making up for that deficiency. And I guess I'd rather they heard no version than a bad version. But as I said, I'm not allowed to use the service myself.

Well, it says right there on the track that it's not by Tim McGraw but instead by "The International Country All Stars" and it also lists the album as "A Tribute to Tim McGraw".

So yes, it is obvious, provided you actually look at the screen (and the Spotify window) when you play it.
