I'm reading Mr E's autobiography at the minute; it is jolly good and has a CD of bonus material in the back, like all good pop biogs obviously should. What's the best pop biog (auto- or otherwise) you lot have read?

[Mr E as in from Eels, obv, not some kind of extrapolation of that Shaman song, although obviously that would be AMAZING]

That one is pretty good. My favourites are probably Marianne Faithfull's, Alex James' and Luke Haines', though only the first is one I'd say was worth reading regardless of whether you're already a fan.

Chiefly famous as Mick Jagger's girlfriend, and her thoughts from within the Stones maelstrom would themselves justify the book, but she went on to alternate solo success (I think she may have worked with Alex James in fact, certainly with Pulp and Patrick Wolf among others) with major drug consumption.

Marianne Faithfull "Broken English"

Marianne Faithfull "Why D'Ya Do It"

Two songs from '79 that pretty definitively made people think of her on her own terms rather than as someone who'd once dated Jagger.
