The zing that hurts most might just be "no one here even mentions your name"; not a brilliant Mariahism/Dreamism, but it's just...true.

Also: total earworm. One listen and I'm already looping "deluuuusional, deluuuusional" in my head.

Bagpipes From Baghdad is quite good tho, in an earwormy way; Bobby Friction's been playing it loads and I've come to quite like it, even if this does piss all over it by virtue of having a bassline that sounds a bit like 'I Got Five On It.'

Think this defo rocketed into my top 20 of the year. Those strings are so fvcking compelling.

Well, that's a suggestive phrase I'll certainly be remembering for a while, and may even have to bring up in mixed company. Not quite sure the same can be said about the song, though, but then I rarely like Mariah much.

Don't meant to be a bit of spoil sport here, but asking Eminem "lyin' that you're sexin' me" is just soooooooo off the mark of what Eminem is actually doing that it automatically makes Mariah sound lamer. "Everyone knows it's clear you're upset with me" -- uh, yeah. Except it's not like Eminem expects anyone to think he's serious, is it? And the kicker is "finally found a girl that you couldn't impress" -- I mean, has she ever even listened to Eminem?

As for the production -- I dunno, it's not standing out above anything I liked from her last album, and the lyrics are really bugging me.

Eminem expects people to take him seriously, though - not the same thing but better to puncture. I haven't heard the Eminem track (and really really just cannot care about anything Eminem does at this juncture) but I'm getting the impression that his jokes come off as slightly bitter - whether true or not it's pretty canny of Mariah to go for that particular angle. I mean, it's "no one here even mentions your name" - she knows that her zings don't have to be accurate b/c no one cared what Eminem said in the first place.

(She probably hasn't listened to Eminem!)

Bagpipes from Baghdad is more just Eminem trying to convey general insanity, in a slightly 'hrmm am I actually still insane or is this just bad taste?' way, which has its own form of interesting charm but the song's basically not brilliant. As I said, I do quite like it tho; think that's partly to do with mild resurgence of fancying him.

Anyway, Mariah sounds much more together than he does; she's funnier than he is, too and more biting. Whether he was being serious or not she's murked him by Mimi essentially being the ladylike equivalent of Shady; AWEZ. Her track makes sense, too, whereas his is him and Dre hurtling downhill on the cheap shots wagon.

...Lol, I don't know what the audio on the embed in the original post has turned into but it's an interesting opposite to 'Obsessed.'
