The Black Eyed Peas have gone back up to #1, Keri & Kanye finally make it into the top 10 and my lovely new fiancée Kelly Clarkson notches up single number 2 from her new album, which I heartily recommend you all buy etc.

[Poll #1412799]

Reminder: You've got until tomorrow (Tuesday) to vote in Heat #1 of the best song of 2000. I'll announce the five songs that have made it through on the Heat #2 poll.

I blame ticking Kasabian on the fact I am feeling BENEVOLENT, having discovered I am actually the richest I've been in months, rather than about to be sued by my bank. It is pretty ace tho, I'll be honest.

Kasabian, that is. Altho the whole 'not completely financially ruined' thing is also ace obvs.

In the same generous mood as Hazel regarding Kasabian, perhaps because I don't understand why they get even more hate around here than the standard indie rockers.

Kasabian "Fire": Slow-beat rockabilly that shifts gears into hard rock. More work than play, like U2 or Springsteen if you dipped them into sticky glue, but has force and feeling. BORDERLINE TICK.

Pet Shop Boys "Did You See Me Coming?": Anticipated a warm sad melody, instead barely got a tune at all, and hated every rhyme I heard. DID YOU SEE ME TICKING? NO!

Enter Shikari "Juggernauts": Rhythms running into each other here, and ridiculously overexpressive singing. I have no idea if I'm laughing at it or laughing with it, but no matter what I can't claim this is good music. NO TICK.

Carolina Liar "Show Me What I'm Looking For": Even with its bright Swedish sheen, this is strangely affectless. I can't make up my mind if that serves or sabotages the melody; the melody gets through anyway, but doesn't save me from being confused. TICK.

Kelly Clarkson "I Do Not Hook Up": This song makes a lot more sense with Katy Perry clawing at the tune. Kelly, in contrast, throws her body into it, as I'd expect, and sounds anonymous, as I wouldn't expect; is undeniably strong and piercing, even if I don't quite connect. TICK.

I think we all have to hate Kasabian because they are very smug. Provided you never read an interview with them tho the music is quite good in a glam rock sort of way.

I quite like Kasabian but yeah they are the sort of band where one is better off never reading anything written about them ever.

PSB: bad choice of single as always, sigh.

I should probably clarify that my Dizzee/Calvin tick was for the former not the latter.

JLS, too! Though not to the extent that I'd pay MONEY to see them.

"I would watch any of them if it was free" also can't apply to us as it was free and we DIDN'T watch all of them!

Or at least slumped unconscious through anything.

I took the "would you pay for" question to suggest that if I were to pay one price, I could see any of the following artists (in a festival or event situation) which is why I put on Katy Perry (would like to see in concert at some point, if mostly for curiosity reasons) and Leona Lewis (wouldn't pay for on her own). Would probably pay a non-outrageous price to see both Kelly C and Ciara in concert on their own, tho.

I took it to mean "Which would you pay for to see in concert on their own?" and almost ticked Katy Perry anyway. WHAT IS HAPPENING.

I have paid money to see Kelly Clarkson in concert, and would do so again!

Would pay a fiver to see the Saturdays.

The rest, not a penny.
