In the comments tell me your favourite pop song at the moment (yes just one I'm afraid) but more importantly tell me how you first heard it. It doesn't have to be a new song.

Was it 'on the radio' (inc podcasts or whatever)? On a TV show or video channel? thru YouTube or another video website? thru an app like iTunes or Spotify? Or did you happen across it some other way?

No big agenda behind this, just curious about the combination of the song and the way you found it.

"Masakali". (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6usyXFf1yFE) It was playing in the autorickshaw I was in. The driver was moving to the beat. While driving. Good times. The song's been a major hit, so I've heard it in public a number of times.

Love And Theft's "Runaway." A live acoustic version of it was linked by Chuck Eddy on the Rolling Country thread, the link being to a YouTube video. Then I went and found the studio version.

I was thinking singles and was going to say her 'Lions, Tigers and Bears', but actually that may be a better call. I heard LTB thanks to WBS sending it to me for review, then I downloaded the album.

Yeah, it was a close call between those two and 'Dream Big' but 'Call Me Guilty' just about has the edge. Bizarrely, I think it's the talky bit at the start that cinches it and normally I hate talky bits.

Probably 'Get Your Money Up' by Keri Hilson (and assorted guests). Heard thanks to a generous mp3 but I bought the album yesterday so that's ok :)

Blackout Crew - "Dialled" is the current one I've listened to most. First heard when Pete emailed me a copy for Lollards.

Oh I just answered Tom on Twitter first. Crazy Cousinz' 'Inflation' (mostly due to the vocal version of it which has just emerged, Aidonia's 'Bounce'). Heard 'Inflation' first on dancefloor at the last FWD at the End during Crazy Cousinz' set, it prompted me to declare that 2009 would be the year of the xylophone. Didn't actually know what it was at the time - was sent promo mp3. 'Bounce' I got off the Heatwave blog on Sunday and a few hours after hearing it for the first time, stumbled into FWD at Plastic People to find Gabriel Heatwave himself playing it HURRAH.

Nothing off the top of my head at the moment but most recently T.I. - "Shit Popped Off," which I first heard on a mixtape.

I Could Break Your Heart by Mandy Moore – read about it on The Singles Jukebox, where they were slagging it off, found the video via Google on some Japanese site, decided I liked it, and added it to my last.fm playlist.

This makes me very pleased, even though I was one of the slaggers. JUKEBOX DOES SOME GOOD IN THE WORLD!

Not sure it's "my favourite song of the moment" but 'Bonkers' has been stuck in my head for a few days now. Heard it first (and subequently) courtesy of Radio 1.
