Right, as previously mentioned (ie: about a month and a half ago) it's ORGAFUN TIEM.

Here is how the ORGAFUN (which has a name but it's somewhat dependent on participant numbers) will work-

1. Those interested will sign up by making a comment to this post going 'ooh count me in' or words to that effect; you have until MONDAY 6TH APRIL to do this, ie: four days. If you know people who want to participate but are away, then feel free to sign up for them.
2. The names of the participants will then be randomised by me and split into suitable groups according to how many people are interested. I'm aiming for about 5-6 people per group, with hopefully roughly 5-6 groups.
3. It will then work a bit like the Pop Premiership/Chart Championship in terms of each group member being compiled a blind item compilation (ie: songs they hopefully won't have heard before) mixtape by the rest of the team, taking turns each week.

The twist, to differ this from the PP/CC is that the mixtapes, rather than merely being 'stuff I thought you might like,' will have a THEME. This will be specified by the recipient, along with a general outline of their tastes; eg:

"I'd like a mixtape of songs about moving or travelling, particularly those with a sadder lilt. I'm very keen on music in a minor key and like everything from storming industrial nonsense to wandering postrock shambles and some things with lyrics in between. I'm a particular sucker for stuff with string instruments in and nonstandard song structure. No goth lyric has ever been too embarassingly melodramatic, in my book."

And then my group would go away and try to find songs about careening around with the four horsemen of the apocalypse or something. Except I obvs. won't be playing, as OVERLORD of this hurr game. They'd then send them to me, who would anonymise them, zip them up and upload them (or put them on a CD or tape and post them to you, if you'd prefer) and email them over to the recipient (or well, email a download link) so that they can then review them, rank them and post about them on [livejournal.com profile] poptimists, at which point I can post the .zip for everyone to download and listen to.

This sounds far more complicated than it really is; basically, rest assured that it's worked before and you'll get a (hopefully) jolly good mixtape. I found some of my subsequent favourite songs as part of the PP/CC.

4. The WINNARS of the groups (ie: two highest scoring players altho really there are no winnars or losars, as myself and Kat will tell you from the previous round of this when we both spectacularly bailed on getting any points and still had a jolly good time) will then go on to something which will work a bit more like the Pop Open. Hybrid theory innit, except without all the nu-metal dad angst.

SO BASICALLY, what you need to know is that you need to be able to send me 1xmp3 (or similar, I can convert them if I have to provided it's not a .OGG or something absurd) per week and be willing to listen to some music. And it will be fun! Sign up!

If you don't care how it works enough to read all that but want to get an awesome mixtape crafted for you by the members of [livejournal.com profile] poptimists and don't mind sending me a song once a week, then just comment saying "I will subscribe to your newsletter" or something.

EDIT: By the way, in no way feel like you can't join in if you are An Lurker or the like. I think I was An Lurker back during the original PP/CC and now look at me, etc.
