My sense of time seems entirely fractured around here - I would have sworn that Craig David was five years before Outkast. And Phoenix? Is this the same hairy neobaggy Phoenix that was still going 3 years later?

Good thing about these mixes is how much they mess with people's perceptions of what was when heh.

'Miss Jackson' wasn't a hit here until early 2001 but Stankonia was released in Autumn 2000. David first appeared a year before that on 'Re-E-Wind' innit. And yep it's the same lovely Phoenix altho they're barely present on this remix as such...

2000 was a great year; lots of good nindie and twee and electronica (and combinations of these) going on around this time too - in addition to Broadcast and Ladytron, I mean.

One could easily fill one's putative "Top 100 songs of the noughties" list with tracks from this particular year if one wasn't careful...
