For the Brits who are being deprived of their premium YouTube videos (assuming that this really happens; won't the gov't step in and decide that YouTube is too important a drain on productivity to be curtailed?), here's some advice:

Assuming you can get it in the U.K. and you don't mind the occasional ad, Singing Fool is worth checking out. (And here's Lisette Melendez's "A Day In My Life (Without You)," possibly the last great freestyle song, unless you want to count Vanessa Hudgens' "Don't Talk" as freestyle.)

And of course there are Dailymotion (here's an absolutely stunning over-the-top and beyond-the-skies live performance of "Rhiannon" by Fleetwood Mac, trying to outdo the Yardbirds and Airplane and Velvet Underground) and Liveleak (not a large selection of music, but here's some guitar player).

And if you just want music without the videos, MySpace has scads and scads of tracks, including lots of stuff uploaded without the companies' consent. Just go to MySpace and use their music search. (But their music player is a bit cranky. Sometimes you have to click on the songs rather than the little play arrow.)(Here's the search result for Nicki Minaj's "Beam Me Up Scotty.")

I tend to use On Smash (http://videos.onsmash.com/) anyway - seems to be a hub for any and every hip-hop/r&b video which emerges, plus a few totally random indie things (Sébastien Tellier, Death Cab For Cutie). I don't bother posting videos to poptimists any more but particularly recommended stuff = said Tellier video (giant lips in the sky, blue painted women); new Unladylike video for 'Bartender'; The-Dream and Mariah's new track; Belvedere-sponsored video for Young Jeezy's 'Circulate' (the aesthetic is "good times at inauguration party"); Jamie Foxx video for 'Blame It' ft. Jake Gyllenhaal, Samuel L Jackson; cartoon Gucci Mane escaping from the cops in 'Stoopid', blinding their windscreen with dollar bills; a SHORT FILM (not just a video clip!) for Jazmine Sullivan's 'In Love With Another Man'.

Also, the entire video oeuvre of Electrik Red, The-Dream's new girl group - 'So Good' (http://videos.onsmash.com/v/NlPwwNNaAdBx5T62) has stop motion dancing, gym ropes, spider webs and technicolour lighting; 'Friend Lover' (http://videos.onsmash.com/v/f8Yas2G7l3h3UwM7) is on some Desperate Housewives shit, sex in suburbia; 'Drink In My Cup' (http://videos.onsmash.com/v/bIH3Lab4eCSGssNM) is kinda O_O hyper-stylised ghetto grotesquerie featuring a totally wtf toilet dance sequence.

Oh yeah, and there's GUBA (Jessica Simpson's unexpected country-reggaeton (or something) version of "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'," in the video for which she plays the cocktease, starts World Brawl III, then makes everything hunky-dory with line-dancing and car wax) and PLUGGEDiN (t.A.T.u.'s "Not Gonna Get Us")(but PLUGGEDin only takes Firefox (which I don't have) and Internet Explorer (which is a hairball) and not my beloved Google Chrome) or you can just go to Google Video and type in "Beliy Plaschik" uncensored.
