poptimistsAnd in them is not much at all. No, the reason the Yet Another Year In Pop polls are so lean is not that the majority of chart entries peak below #40. I was actually wondering whether I should wait for February's batch as well before posting, but since I have far too much nothing else to do anyway, here goes. (The upside is a higher probability of finding everything on youtube!)

The continuing chart ossification is rather striking when we look at the numbers. Last year (a record low for entries, as discussed before), 61 tracks entered the Top 75 in the first eight weeks. This year, the number is...41. Eep.
(PS could a mod create a "yayips" tag btw?)
