A brand new number 1 for Leona - good news, it's not the karaoke version! Elsewhere, 'Womanizer' moves up to 3, and there are some surprising re-entries for Will Young and Miley Cyrus (both jumping 30-odd places each - I assume they've been on the telly in the last week).

Last week's top ten poll was won by Beyonce, with Girls Aloud close behind.

Christmas mentalism watch: as well as Mariah (17), The Pogues (19) and Wham (36), we have Basshunter's 'Jingle Bells', Shakin' Stevens, Wizzard and Slade all in the top 50, plus Perry Como, Band Aid and Chris Rea in the top 75. It's only going to get worse next week...

I will do a round up of this year's *new* Christmas-themed pop some time this week. Is that Basshunter track new? If so, I'll include it though it's probably rubbish. Mind you, the other runners and riders are a piss poor lot as well...

I'm withholding ticks for Fairytale and Last Christmas on principle - I think both songs are great but I really don't want them resurfacing every eleven months for the rest of my life.

The Beyonce's brilliant but I haven't heard the Britney yet...

I really don't get the hysteria over 'Run'...it's a really boring song with the most annoyingly non-specific lyrics possible, which tries to disguise its lack of hooks with a crashingly overdone arrangement. Leona's voice is not enough to save it, frankly.

'Cash In My Pocket' is even more of a fucking embarrassment than 'Summertime'. I haven't heard Wiley's album yet - I am awaiting it with a great deal of trepidation - but it's so frustrating that in a year when he's done his best and his worst work, it's the latter which is getting the push. Grime Wave would have made a terrific proper album.

Britney is OK but not great as per most of that album.

'Single Ladies' has really grown on me - thinking of it as a dance routine helped, as did every lunatic live performance - but it's still a B-grade version of 'Get Me Bodied' and probably the weakest track on Sasha Fierce.

I'm not baffled by Leona's huge success at all. It's a brilliant, brilliant version of a great song.

What is wrong with all of you? The James/Nelly single is an amazing pop song. Don't be fooled by who is singing it!
