This is the rather excellent video to the new Jay-Z/Santogold collaboration (produced by Kanye), which features on the soundtrack to the forthcoming Biggie biopic, 'Notorious'.

First reaction to the song (not the vid, which I wasn't paying attention to): I love the moodiness of the organ (or organ-like instro), surprising in that its mood almost reminds me of the sadness of "Gangsta's Paradise," for some reason, and Santogold's "Brooklyn we go hard" chant and her basic rough anguish fit well with the mood. Jay-Z's rap is a bit too floppy (?), the fake dancehall cadence not even pretending not to be fake, though generally sounds good enough when the mood is on, not good when it's just backed up by beats. So this track is a mixed bag, and Santi's own brief rap is too nice or too weak, but the basic mood and the basic Santi repetition pushes this across, I think.
