Hello everyone, I'm doing some impromptu research.

As I said above, it's not a test so don't get too neurotic about it, I'm just curious. Feel free to discuss The State Of Pop In 2008 further in the comments, if you want. Linking to YouTube videos and that is very much encouraged; get on a soapbox.

I tend not to mind slightly overlong albums - I don't trust artists or record companies to do the editing for me - and a couple of inessential cuts on a 14-track album won't spoil it for me; I tend to cherrypick when I listen anyway. But 18 is a slog - unless the artistic vision is v focused or all the songs genuinely great, any 18-track album will end up being less than the sum of its parts. And with all due respect to the Dolls, focused artistic vision or consistent greatness aren't what I expect from them. The Lil' Mama album suffers from this too though obv her highs are higher than PCDs'.
