Hello everyone, I'm doing some impromptu research.

[Poll #1264707]

As I said above, it's not a test so don't get too neurotic about it, I'm just curious. Feel free to discuss The State Of Pop In 2008 further in the comments, if you want. Linking to YouTube videos and that is very much encouraged; get on a soapbox.

i always thought Basement Jaxx would get there first re 'Apocalypso'

agree MJ album is ropey but not necessarily any more so than Cut Copy's

re-listened to Sebastian Tellier album last night and it's quite a grower (this isn't aimed at you particularly, but poptimists generally :)

I like the Tellier album fine but there is no way it's even going to end up in my yr-end top 20. It suffers from all the songs sounding exactly the same.

'Divine' and 'Elle' sound satisfyingly different from each other. It doesn't strike me as any samier than a whole bunch of stuff. I think the real downside to it is Tellier's often irritating affectation of 'fragility' in his vocals which didn't seem as bad before ('La Ritournelle' etc.) and the attempts at 'sexiness' generally fail.
